I had the most incredible experience the other day—one of those moments that remind you how energy, alignment, and style are deeply connected.
It started with a trip to see the Starling murmuration at Avalon Marshes, a breathtaking natural phenomenon where thousands of birds swirl in perfect harmony against the winter sky. Afterward, feeling inspired, I stopped at The Railway Inn, a pub that felt like stepping back into the 1980s—right down to the wonderfully old-school prices.
As I sat by the fire, locals drifting in and out, I overheard a conversation at the next table. A couple was discussing their upcoming trip to the Oscars—yes, the Oscars. They were the plus-ones of a nominee from Wicked.
Then came the moment that caught my attention. The woman sighed, “The problem is, I’ve got two dresses, and I just don’t think they’re red carpet worthy…”
My designer instincts kicked in. I sat there debating with myself for about five minutes—should I say something? Would it be too forward? But deep down, I knew I had something perfect for her.
As I got up to leave (after my half-pint of Guinness), I finally leaned in and said, “Sorry to interrupt, but I overheard your conversation—one of those once-in-a-lifetime things, especially in the back and beyond! If you’re struggling for a dress, I might have the perfect one. I’m a designer, recently moved here after 30 years in London, and I just made the most stunning black gown with an attached cape. It’s very unusual for me to create something in black, but from what you’re describing, it might be the one.”
She took my card and said she’d be in touch.
The Perfect Dress—Or So I Thought
The next day, I got a text: “Can I please come today? We fly on Thursday morning, and I’m running out of time!!!”
I said yes, of course. She came over that afternoon, and as soon as she tried on the dress, it was perfect. Just a tiny tweak at the back, and it was red carpet-ready.
She messaged her daughters to get their opinion. Their response? “Mum, that’s so red carpet for you!”
We talked about the price, which, in the grand scheme of things, was just a drop in the ocean compared to what they had already spent—£6,000 per ticket just to attend, £18,000 to fly business class with friends.
She left saying she loved it and would confirm later.
Then… silence.
Late that evening, she sent a message saying how much she loved meeting me and my daughter, loved the dress… but had decided to stick with what she already had.
I was stunned. What had happened? Was it the price? Should I offer a different option? This was the Oscars! The ultimate showcase! But she had completely ghosted me.
The Real Block: Worthiness
A few days later, I was in a Helix Energetic Success Mastery session—where I coach and train others on life and success alignment—when I started reflecting on what had happened.
Was I the one with the block? Was I holding some unconscious resistance around my designs being seen on a global stage?
Then, I remembered something she had said: She didn’t feel comfortable having attention on herself.
It wasn’t about the dress. It was about her own worthiness.
She had the opportunity to step into the spotlight, to be seen, to claim her place… and instead, she retreated into the safety of what was familiar.
And that’s when I realized—this is exactly what I help people with.
Soul-Style Alignment: Being Worthy of the Dress
So many of us do this. We say we want to stand out, to embody our highest selves, to wear the dress, take the opportunity, claim the life we know is meant for us… and then, when the moment comes, we shrink.
We tell ourselves stories:
• “It’s too much.”
• “I’m not ready.”
• “People will judge me.”
• “Who am I to take up this space?”
But what if the real work isn’t about finding the perfect dress—it’s about becoming the woman who can wear it?
What if it’s about shifting your energy, clearing old beliefs, and aligning your outer expression with your inner power?
This is what I do in my Soul-Style Alignment Sessions—it’s not just about styling, it’s about stepping into who you truly are.
Because when you know you’re worthy of the dress, the dress becomes worthy of you.
